From the Alligator.org:
There's a powerful man roaming campus.
He's given thousands of dollars each year for the upkeep of his Audi. He makes more money than the governor.
The Chronicle of Higher Education recently released the salaries of every university president in the nation.
Guess who tops the list in Florida.
UF President Bernie Machen's base salary is $411,037, according to the Chronicle's report.
On top of that, he gets a $7,888 allowance for his car, $22,924 for retirement pay, a $75,000 annual bonus and a $210,000 retention bonus.
Should a University that has such low salaries for faculty and staff and that is suffering from a budget crunch have a President that gets paid more than university leaders from the California system? It's important to note that this President has added more bureaucracy which costs Florida taxpayers more and makes him responsible for less work...

I wish more people were reading this site and adding to it. Bernie's a disaster for the University. But it's hard to point to specific acts of omission or commission for which to blame him. The people who know of such acts -- higher-ranking administrators -- are scared to speak up because he's such a mean SOB. Too bad for us.
Scientific Misconduct and Corruption at the University of Florida
Two law suits are being fought in the Circuit Court in Alachua County, FL (# 01-05-CA-4694, # 01-07-CA-912) involving Theft of Intellectual Property of a Unique, New Cancer Cure, Breach of Contract, and use of misappropriated Intellectual Property to obtain Federal Tax Payer Funds for Scientific Research, constituting a Federal felony.
The University of Florida is the most powerful organization in Florida, and is using its considerable muscle to destroy the inventor of the Cancer Cure, who is representing himself in court as Pro Se counsel. The University has hired a team of “Super-Lawyers” in an attempt to sway judicial opinion in its favor. Proof of the veracity of the inventor’s claims is the recent abrupt termination of the Director of the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center, Dr. W. Stratford May, MD, who is a named party in the above law suits, as well as the research grants his research team obtained from using the invention.
