Lawsuits? What's This All About?

The site has been inundated with copies of this comment. Does anyone know what this is all about? Hey poster... instead of posting all over the site, provide some details and links to substantiate your claim... I'll be happy to update this site accordingly. I'm just not interested in having all of my comment sections hit with information that doesn't relate to the individual posts.

Two law suits are being fought in the Circuit Court in Alachua County, FL (# 01-05-CA-4694, # 01-07-CA-912) involving Theft of Intellectual Property of a Unique, New Cancer Cure, Breach of Contract, and use of misappropriated Intellectual Property to obtain Federal Tax Payer Funds for Scientific Research, constituting a Federal felony.

The University of Florida is the most powerful organization in Florida, and is using its considerable muscle to destroy the inventor of the Cancer Cure, who is representing himself in court as Pro Se counsel. The University has hired a team of “Super-Lawyers” in an attempt to sway judicial opinion in its favor. Proof of the veracity of the inventor’s claims is the recent abrupt termination of the Director of the University of Florida Shands Cancer Center, Dr. W. Stratford May, MD, who is a named party in the above law suits, as well as the research grants his research team obtained from using the invention.

Machen Endorses McCain, Alligator Responds

Machen, again shooting from the hip, went public with his endorsement of John McCain for President. Considered a potentially damaging move, the Alligator responds:

While it may not have been as glamorous or as influential as Oprah Winfrey's endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama - and certainly didn't receive as much media attention - UF President Bernie Machen's unusual public announcement that he would endorse Sen. John McCain for president this week did raise more than a few questions across campus.

Though Machen adamantly maintains that his endorsement of the Republican senator is completely separate from his duties as university president, we can't imagine why he would want to make such a public gesture unless it was to capitalize on his notoriety as a university leader.

If this election truly is such a personal matter to him, why did he agree to publicly endorse the senator only after a representative from the McCain campaign approached him?

Why didn't Machen just endorse McCain months ago when he first announced his candidacy?

Not only was this public endorsement made shortly before Florida's primaries completely inappropriate for someone in Machen's position. We also aren't accepting the flimsy explanation that this announcement was merely a reflection of Machen's personal opinion.

It was a blatant gesture to influence public opinion as a state leader...

Machen Threatens Summer Closing, Stumbles While Backtracking

After tough-talking maverick Bernie Machen told reporters that it was possible that the University could be closed for business over the summer, he was forced to backtrack after it was determined that this option only made sense to crazy people.

I don't know what shutting down (for summer) means," said Matheny, a professor of political science. "I've been here 30 years and I can't imagine what that really means."

The Gainesville Sun did a decent job of detailing the impact a closing of the university would have on both the school and the community, something Machen didn't consider when he chimed in.

Someone needs to tell Machen that it's one thing to brainstorm ideas in private but something else to go public with the most harebrained of ideas. If all options are on the table, does that include returning some of that outrageous bonus money?
